*~May 17th PCOS Advocacy Day~*

Hey Y’ALL

Today I want to be a little bit more serious on my blog and talk about something that I deal with every single day and many others deal with it, but they deal with it quietly. I am hear to let y’all know y’all aren’t alone.

~My Story~

I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. I have always had cyst problems, the pain, no period, etc. I felt like something was wrong with me because my pain was getting worse and my mood….well I had mood swings, I felt like I couldn’t handle. I was also putting on weight that I couldn’t lose no matter how hard I tried. Before the doctor told me about PCOS, I had no idea what it was. I have never heard of it before and honestly it crushed me. I felt like my womanhood was ripped away. Even though my husband and I are happy not having anymore kids, it crushed me knowing if I wanted to get pregnant. It would be harder to get pregnant and most women with PCOS miscarry and I know me I am not strong enough to deal with something like that. Not only that I had to change my diet because of being insulin resistant. That scared me like no other. I don’t want to become diabetic. Heck, honestly I would never be able to poke my own finger or give myself a shot. I have a fear of needles (I go into a panic attack at times, knowing I am going to have to get poked with a needle). I was glad that there was ways to make my pain stop though. Go back on birth control and I started on Metformin. I was doing great with my diet and taking my meds and then when I was up for my blood work again, my fasting insulin number went up. I lost weight and everything and still it wasn’t good enough. Today, I don’t take Metformin anymore. After I had my stomach surgery in August, I just stopped taking it, which I probably need to start again and I need to go back to the GYN.

~What is PCOS~

PCOS is polycystic ovary syndrome, which is a hormone imbalance that affects 1 in 10 women, yes very shocking. There are women out there they don’t know they have it and some that do know, keep quiet about it.

~About PCOS~

  • Causes hair growth in places were women shouldn’t being having excess hair growth at.
  • Leading cause for infertility in women.
  • 1 in 10 women are living with PCOS.
  • PCOS is Genetic and even man can carry the gene for it.
  • It can be treated, but not cured.
  • PCOS causes hair loss.
  • Mood swings out of the blue, for not reason at all.
  • Causes tiredness
  • Irregular periods, sometimes months and months without one and then bam it hits and you are doubled over in pain.
  • Very painful
  • Causes other health problems: High Cholesterol, Insulin Resistance, Obesity, infertility, insomnia,  anxiety, depression, etc

I could go on and on about PCOS and how it affects women. Remember this next time: when you ask a woman about when she is going to have a baby, she could be battling with PCOS, before you call someone fat or think they are lazy, she could be battling with PCOS, before you get upset with someone that is moody, remember she could be battling with PCOS. Before you make fun of the woman with a mustache, remember she could be battling with PCOS. PCOS is an illness that cannot be cured. It needs more awareness brought to it.

To the women out there that is battling with PCOS….PLEASE remember…YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

~*~Goal Update~*~

Hey Y’all

Can y’all believe we are already half way through this month. I can’t!!! It is flying by for me. This whole year is flying by like crazy.

Because it is 1/2 way through this month I wanted to give y’all a goal update on how I am doing with this months goals.

~Monthly Goals~

1. 100 Followers on my blog!

I am at 77 followers right now on my blog (this is not counting email followers). I am getting there. I have a couple of more weeks left to get to my 100. Please share my blog with your family and friends. It would be greatly appreciated.

2. Daily Devotion Every Night!

I am happy to say that I have done my daily devotion every single night. I have even started a daily devotion journal to write down the things that stand out to me. I use an app and I have been focusing on my parenting and my marriage when it comes to daily devotion. I am very proud of myself. I have already finished 2 plans and I just started new daily devotion plans a couple of days ago.

3. Walk 125 Miles this Month

This one I haven’t done so good on. I am close to the 1/2 point, but I am not quiet there. There has been some days where I have just been lazy. When I have those lazy days, I try to make it up the next day, but it doesn’t always happen like that. I am VERY determine to achieve this goal this month!

4. Work on Myself

I am doing great with this goal also. I have been taking time to myself every week. I take a nice hot bath and just listen to music and relax. I also take some time to myself every night to relax and clear my mind from that day. I wish I could lose weight though. I struggle with losing weight. If y’all have any suggestions please let me know.

5. No Sodas

This is by far the hardest. We went to the movies the other day and I was like, I want a Dr. Pepper, I almost broke, but I got my a bottle of water instead. I have done this before years ago, plus when I had stomach surgery back in August I had to go without soda, which was ease then because it was for a medical reason. I struggle with this daily, I crave either a Dr. Pepper or a Diet Mt. Dew, it is just crazy.

I am still working daily on all of my goals. I am doing great with some and not so great with others. I am going to continue busting my butt on getting my 125 miles this month.

How are y’all coming along with y’alls goals? What goals are y’all struggling on this month?

Please don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog. Please share my blog with family, friends, and on y’alls social media to help me get to my 100 followers this month.

~*Current Face Products*~

Hey Y’ALL

We have made it to Friday!! YAY!!! I have a busy day today. I have to go and pick up my color street strips, make a dollar tree run, and we have a softball game tonight. I still have to finish painting my kitchen.

I wanted to share with y’all some of my current face products that I haven’t reviewed yet on my blog, but I love them and use them daily.

~ CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir~

Price: $9.98 @ Wal-Mart

img_7995

I don’t use many covergirl products, but I seen Casey Holmes always talking about this foundation. I just had to try it. This is my drugstore go to foundation now. It has sunscreen in it, which is a bonus to me. It is also oil free. This foundation last all day. I still have to blot like 1/2 thru my day, but the foundation does not move at all. If you are looking for a good drugstore foundation, I would recommend this foundation.

*Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder*

Price: $5.97 @ Wal-Mart

img_7994

I think this is a face powder that everyone probably has in their makeup collection. For the price this is well worth it. It is great for baking your under eye area. After you get pass the smell, you are good to go. The smell reminds me of my Granny’s face powder she use to have in her bedroom. This can get messy, but I take the top off and dip my sponge or brush straight into the powder and it is less messy. The puff they comes with it I don’t like at all. This is a highly recommended face powder. It works like a high end face powder and it’s under $6.

~Covergirl Tru Blend Blush~

Price- $9.79 @ Walgreens

img_7996

You can tell by the package this blush is really well loved. I really, really, love this blush. It blends perfectly. This is my go to blush I use, if I do not know what blush I want to wear for the day.

This is some of my current face products I have been stuck on this month. What are some of y’alls current face products?

Please don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog.

**No Makeup Days**

Hey Y’ALL 🙋🏻‍♀️‼️

OMG….is it just me or is this week just going by very, very slowly? I can’t wait till tomorrow because my wonderful hubby got me tickets to the Grand Ole Opry and we are going tomorrow night :). I am just ready for it to get here, it has been on my bucket list for years and years.

No makeup days, we all have them right? I am one of these that I normally wear makeup everyday, but this week…honestly, I haven’t been feeling it at all! I have no idea what has gotten into me, but I have skipped putting on makeup this week. I have no idea what has gotten into me, but I am like oh well I will survive without it. Do y’all ever go through stages where you just don’t want to put on makeup? I honestly think because I know the summer is almost here and with my house full of kiddos, I won’t have time to put on a full face of makeup. Here in good ole Tennessee where I live we have about 6 weeks left of school before summer break hits.

Those with kids, especially during the summer where do you find your time, to pamper yourself? I just have 1, but because I am blessed to stay at home I do help my family out and watch my nieces and nephews. Do y’all schedule it into y’all daily routine or if you don’t have time you just don’t have time?

I know this was a random post of me just rumbling on and on, but please don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog.

Also, I have a poll if y’all please let me know what you think because I might be changing things up here on my blog.

Thanks for reading,

Dana

~New Favorite Drugstore Concealer~

Hey Y’all!!

I hope everyone is doing well today. I am not ready for it to be Monday at all. I want to be able to sleep in a couple of more days.

Today I want to share with y’all my new favorite concealer I found that is only $5.99…yes that cheap. It is another gem I found ordering stuff online from sales.

*Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer*

Price: $5.99 @ Ulta.com

I ended up knowing about this product watching YouTube. I have seen several beauty gurus talk about it alot. When I was placing my order I knew this was a must get item especially for the price it is. On Ulta it has 4 stars and almost 250 reviews, my thought was it had to be good. Every since getting this in the mail, I haven’t picked up my Tarte Shape Tape concealer and I haven’t picked up my Maybelline Age Rewind concealer. This has turned into my new favorite concealer. It hides my dark circle (which I do have daily, lol), it hides redness, and it is waterproof. I have bad allergies right now and my eyes are taking the hit from them and they are dry and yucky, I have to use drops daily now and the drops don’t even mess up my concealer. I have been using the Makeup Revolution Lace Baking Powder with the concealer. I highly recommend that y’all try this out, it is only $6, it will be well worth your money.

If y’all have tried this concealer, what are y’alls thoughts?

Please don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog for more beauty reviews and much more.

Thanks for reading 🙂

~* Life…It just happens*~

Hey Y’all

Oh, I have how I have missed being on my blog and writing. Did I plan to vanish for over a week….no, but I needed it, oh how I needed it. I didn’t need a break from writing on my blog at all, I love it actually, gives me something to look forward to, but I needed a break from life in general. As you can tell by the title this isn’t no beauty blog. It is just about life in general.

You know how you just have had a rough time back to back and you feel like you never catch a break, that was me. February was spent in and out of the hospital with my son and then I ended up with the flu and March was just crazy. What makes it worse is that I have insomnia, so when I go without sleep most nights, my emotions start to show and I am just lost at that point.

I would have to say March started off on a good note, but certainly did not end that way at all. It ended with drama, more drama, and again more drama. I also turned 32 at the end of March, I actually had a great birthday. After my birthday, I started doing some thinking and I want to change a lot in my life…one goal at a time

April Goals

  • Restoring my relationship with GOD: So much has went on this year and I need to start focusing on God more. I have been failing to do so this year. I need to start getting back into church every Sunday.
  • My Marriage: I feel like I need to work on my marriage a lot this month. Not that it is bad because it isn’t. I just feel that with my husband on nights and having a different schedule than I do, there is no time spent family wise. Maybe schedule a Saturday nigh movie night all this month….that sounds good.
  • Lose 10 pounds this month: I want to eat healthy and start exercising more. I use to do it all the time, now it is time to go back and do it again.
  • No buying makeup: Yep, you read it right, I am not going to buy no new makeup this month. Last month I hit several big sales and bought a lot…I am just going to review the products I have on hand for y’all this month.
  • Organizing: I need to organize my house and declutter big time. I have already remodeled the living room area and the kitchen is next. I have been working on decluttering it were I can paint it by the end of the month.
  • Letting go of people that do harm: After March, I have came to the realization, I need to let go of those people who are toxic to me. Those who yo think has got your back, but in the end all they do is stab you in the back. I need to focus on myself and my family. I feel that if my family and I are important enough for people they will come around or call. I am so done with drama and helping those people who just take advantage of my kindness.

I am hitting April with full force y’all. I should be back on track tomorrow with a beauty blog for y’all.

Until then, thanks for reading,

Dana

~* Revlon Photoready insta-filter Foundation*~

Hey Y’all!!

Happy Sunday, I hope everyone has had a great relaxing weekend. We had a nice relaxing day. Unfortunately we miss church because I forgot to set my alarm and didn’t wake up till after 10 (I guess I was sleeping good).

Last night, I went to Walgreens for the first time in a month and I had to finally grab the new Revlon foundation. I have heard so many mixed reviews on it. I ended up with it because I have a $4 off coupon, which made it cheaper.

Revlon Photoready insta-filter Foundation

Price: $17.99 @ Walgreens

I know what y’all are probably thinking because I think the same thing. The price is WAYYYY to much for a drugstore foundation! I had a coupon (Thank God), for me to purchase this and do a review for y’all.

Revlon Claim’s:

  • Flawless Finish
  • Works for all skin types
  • Evens and smooths skin tone

This foundation does have a built in sponge for easy application. It is suppose to give you that Instagram look that you see everyone has on Instagram. To me in means in other words…..it is going to make you look like you used Photoshop on your picture (lol).

My thoughts:

  • The built in sponge is a HUGE NO!!
  • Does apply great with a sponge
  • Last about 6 hours
  • Does make you look flawless
  • When blotting foundation does come off.

When I first applied it, I did try to use the build in sponge on it. It just wasn’t working for me. It pulls at your skin, it leaves streaks, and you cannot blend it in at all with it. I did try to use a brush and that also left streaks, so I would recommend using a damp sponge with this foundation.

I do love the look that this foundation give me. It does make my skin look flawless, but when I started to get oily and I blotted, some of the foundation came off. It has been awhile since I have applied the foundation and it still looks okay, but not like it did. It started to break apart around the 6th hour mark.

Do I recommend this Foundation?

I can’t say I recommend this foundation at all because of the price. It is high for a drugstore foundation. I feel for it’s price that, it shouldn’t start breaking apart after wearing it for  hours. It should be lasting all day. It does make your skin look flawless (I will post a picture down below). If you are going to buy this product, I would wait for a coupon like I did or wait for a sale. This will be a foundation that I will wear when I don’t have a long day ahead of me or for a date night.

Have y’all use this foundation? If so what are y’alls thoughts on it?

*~Beauty Questions~*

Hey Y’all

I hope everyone is going great on this Wednesday. I have been receiving several different questions in my email. I figured I would ask them all at once in this post.

  • Why are you so into makeup products?

Since I can remember I have always been into makeup products. My older sister I remember growing up and watching her put on her makeup. She passed away when I was 11 and I went into a tomboy stage and really didn’t started putting on makeup till I was 15 (maybe). Over the years my love for makeup has grown.

  • What type of coverage do you prefer?

It really all depends, I mainly like medium to full coverage, but there are days especially in the summer where I want a lighter coverage.

  • What beauty item do you buy the most of?

Eyeshadow….my collection of eyeshadow is unreal. I love it though, it is my favorite part of makeup.

  • How often do you shop for makeup?

Anytime I am at the store, lol. I don’t always buy makeup, but I am always looking for a new product to try. I have been buying mostly online because I do live in a small town. I am a discount shopper so, I have to have a coupon code or a site has to be having a huge sale for me to buy.

  • Do you have a beauty budget?

No not really. I try to keep my beauty budget on what I make watching my nephew during the week. I don’t work, I decided to quit my job a couple of years ago to watch my nephew and whatever I make for that I usually spend it on beauty products.

  • How do you find your makeup cheap?

I find my makeup cheap a lot of ways. I do coupon, there is always makeup coupons in the paper. I also look at sales at Wal-greens and Rite aid because you can earn points there and spend them like money. Also, I will check websites a couple times a week to see if anyone is having a sale. Like this week I found that E.L.F was having their spring sale, so I made an order and Too Faced was having their up to 70% off sale so I made an order there also. I hate paying full price.

  • What is the order you apply your makeup?

After moisturizing, I start off with my eyes first. I prime and do my eyeshadow (Winged liner if that is the look I want for the day). Then I will prime my face and do my foundation, concealer, and then I will set my face. I will then go back to my eyes. Do eyeliner, mascara, brows, and I will highlight my brow bone and inner corner of my eye. Then I will finish the rest of my makeup. Bronze, contour, highlight, blush, and set my face. Then I will do lipstick last.

  • When are you planning to start your YouTube channel?

The plan was to start it last month, but my son was hospitalized for most of the month and then I ended up getting the flu. I am being checking my schedule to see when I perfect time to film would be. Right now it is hard to set everything up to film because I have a lot going on this month, but don’t worry once I start it, I will post it on my blog 😊

If y’all have anymore questions please feel free to ask. I don’t mind answering them.

Also don’t forget I am looking for Guest bloggers next month (**Looking for Guest Bloggers**)

Tarte Shape Tape Foundation!!! (The most talked about foundation)

I know, I know….This is not a drug store foundation, but I was curious. If you haven’t heard about the Tarte Shape Tape Foundation, just google it and bam….you are going to find some mad people. Not because it is a bad foundation, but because of their shade range.Yes, I understand it, but honestly I am sick of hearing about it, they came out with more shades, it is time to get over it. Tarte is not the only brand that has a limited shade range. With that said I want to get on with my review. img_6861

This retails for $39 at Ulta or you can buy it on the Tarte website. My personal opinion go in an Ulta and match your shade because $39 is a lot to pay for a foundation. I have been wanting to get my hands on this since it launched because I love their concealer. Now, honestly I am in love with this foundation. I used a beauty blender to apply it and it when on like a dream. I was actually shocked because usually when I use a matte foundation, I usually get oily very fast. This foundation, I didn’t. I did get oily near the end of the day and then it slipped off my nose but that was the only place I had problems with. If you have been curious about this foundation, go buy it. It is worth the money (well the matte one is).

Look at yesterdays post to see a picture of me wearing it. The Rimmel London post!!
