*~*Self Tanning Gone Wrong*~*

Hey Y’ALL

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope everyone has had a great week, hopefully everyone has something planned for the weekend. I am currently sitting here waiting to see if our softball game is going to be called off. It has rained most of the week and it rained earlier today. If it is I should be finding out anytime now.

It is almost summer time and I wanted to get my summer glow. I am pail..like Casper white. I decided this year I want to try to self tan because I hate going to the tanning bed because it is bad for your skin and I am not a fan of a spray tan. I researched drug store self tanner because I wanted to see what works in drugstore before buying something expensive. After researching I decided to go with Jergens Natural Glow: Wet Skin Moisturizer. You are suppose to use it as a daily moisturizer when you are still in the shower and the pat dry when you are out of the shower. It is suppose to build up after a week to give you that natural glow.

~Jergens Natural Glow~

Price: $8.64 @ Wal-Mart (Plus they have save $1.50 coupon on it)

img_8108

The first couple of days of using this I liked it. I was only putting it on my legs and arms to see how it worked. It was slowly building up to the color I wanted. Well the 3rd day of using this, I woke up and when I got dressed I noticed that I had a line on the side of my leg. It looked like were the water ran down my leg after I applied it the night before. It is suppose to be a wet skin moisturizer, so I didn’t quite understand why it would leave a line. I did nothing different from the first 2 nights. Well, I decided on the 4th night that I was going to dry off a lil before applying it because of the water line it left going down my leg the day before….OMG this was worse. It made me look dirty. in places it looked like I was just playing in dirt all day. Even my husband pointed it out that I looked dirty, so drying off a lil before applying it was not a great idea.

I tried to take a picture for y’all to see this water line. It was awful. The first couple of days, I was like yes it is going to work and then it was a complete fail. I would pass of this self tanner.

Today when I was at Wal-Mart, I got the Jergens Daily Moisturizer that isn’t a wet skin moisturizer. This product has great review and the wet skin worked great for the first couple of days, so I decided I would try to see if it works. Once I have tested it out for a week or so I will let y’all know how it works.

What self tanner products do y’all use and what self tanner products do y’all recommend?

~*~Goal Update~*~

Hey Y’all

Can y’all believe we are already half way through this month. I can’t!!! It is flying by for me. This whole year is flying by like crazy.

Because it is 1/2 way through this month I wanted to give y’all a goal update on how I am doing with this months goals.

~Monthly Goals~

1. 100 Followers on my blog!

I am at 77 followers right now on my blog (this is not counting email followers). I am getting there. I have a couple of more weeks left to get to my 100. Please share my blog with your family and friends. It would be greatly appreciated.

2. Daily Devotion Every Night!

I am happy to say that I have done my daily devotion every single night. I have even started a daily devotion journal to write down the things that stand out to me. I use an app and I have been focusing on my parenting and my marriage when it comes to daily devotion. I am very proud of myself. I have already finished 2 plans and I just started new daily devotion plans a couple of days ago.

3. Walk 125 Miles this Month

This one I haven’t done so good on. I am close to the 1/2 point, but I am not quiet there. There has been some days where I have just been lazy. When I have those lazy days, I try to make it up the next day, but it doesn’t always happen like that. I am VERY determine to achieve this goal this month!

4. Work on Myself

I am doing great with this goal also. I have been taking time to myself every week. I take a nice hot bath and just listen to music and relax. I also take some time to myself every night to relax and clear my mind from that day. I wish I could lose weight though. I struggle with losing weight. If y’all have any suggestions please let me know.

5. No Sodas

This is by far the hardest. We went to the movies the other day and I was like, I want a Dr. Pepper, I almost broke, but I got my a bottle of water instead. I have done this before years ago, plus when I had stomach surgery back in August I had to go without soda, which was ease then because it was for a medical reason. I struggle with this daily, I crave either a Dr. Pepper or a Diet Mt. Dew, it is just crazy.

I am still working daily on all of my goals. I am doing great with some and not so great with others. I am going to continue busting my butt on getting my 125 miles this month.

How are y’all coming along with y’alls goals? What goals are y’all struggling on this month?

Please don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog. Please share my blog with family, friends, and on y’alls social media to help me get to my 100 followers this month.

*~*Softball Life*~*

Hey Y’ALL!!

Happy Saturday!! The weather is nice here (minus it being hot) and we have lots of plans today. I hope everyone is going to be out enjoying this nice weather. We have a busy day with our niece’s softball game, our softball practice, and then back to the strip. It rain last weekend so the antique cars couldn’t make it out, so they are having it again this week. I think we are going to ride the strip a lil bit, but take chairs this time to sit and watch mostly.

Last night we had our “First” game of the season. We lost, we got our butt kicked!! Yep, our team needs work. We have a pretty great team, but they are going to have to want to be a TEAM. Some of them have to learn there are no “I” in team. Also, we have a player we have to talk to about being nice to our other team members. Kids can be so mean these days. I think we are going to practice today and then Tuesday. Our next game is next Friday….wish us luck.

Today, we are going out to another ball field to help my brother. He is our assistant coach where we play at, but his girls play somewhere else and he coaches their team. My husband helps him out and of course, I get to hang with my 2 year old nephew. Plus, a friend runs ball out there and we told him we would help him anyway we can when he needs it.

CT272DH-2

I feel like now days we live and breathe softball. My husband wanted to coach and I said okay, if that is what you want to do go for it and then his mom sponsored us. I didn’t realize how much I would be involved in it. I am the one that keeps everything organized, contact parents about games and practices, plus standing in the dug out with them. I am also in charge of the batter line up making sure we have the correct batter going up when it is their turn. I remember telling my husband last year that, if he wanted Zander our son to play softball it was his thing. I did karate with him, I did my time, lol….but I guess it didn’t stick this year. I love being able to support my husband in wanting to coach and supporting my son playing sports.  Not a lot of parents get to do that. Plus, I use to be a preschool teacher and I love working with kids (that is why my house is always full of kids), it gives me a chance to do something I love…minus they are older kids.

*Nightly Routine…Winding Down*

Hey Y’ALL

I hope everyone’s Monday was great, but I do understand it is Monday. I know I usually post earlier in the day, but my day was busy, busy, busy.

While I am winding down for the night, I thought my nightly routine would be a great post for today.

Right now my husband is on night shift (I am so ready for him to be back on his normal schedule), so during the week my night time routine is different than my weekend nightly routine, but not by much.

1. Shower

I am one of these people that have to have a shower at night, if not I feel dirty especially waking up in the morning. I also do my skincare routine after I get out of the shower.

2. Daily Devotion

Right now I am using an app on my phone and also a 3-minute devotions for women. I love it because it is a journal, so I can write down my thoughts after reading. This is my quiet time, no one is around (but my fur babies), and I can focus more on what I am reading. I take it in way better and it makes my soul feel so much better,

3. My Daily Planner

Last month one of my goals was to get more organized and one of the steps I took was getting myself a planner. I decided to get the Happy Planner and I love it. I also bought daily sheets for it, were every day I have something to check off to make sure I done everything for the day. What I love about these sheets is, it has a grateful for part and I always list what I am grateful for that day. I make sure I have everything planned out for the next day, were I know exactly what I need to do when I wake up.

4. Catching up on my Youtube Videos

This is the one thing that is different during the week vs. the weekend. I use to watch my youtube videos in pick up line waiting on school to get out, but I decided I would start watching them as I was doing my planner and just winding down for the day.

As you can tell my nightly routine is short and sweet. I just want to be relaxed before trying to go to sleep because I do have insomnia. I am finding the more relaxed I am the better I sleep and preparing myself for the next day, I am WAY less stressed.

What are y’alls nightly routine?

Please don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog. I want to get to 100 followers by the end of the month and I don’t have that many to go.

~Starting the Week off Right~

Hey Y’all!!

14-Attractive-Happy-Sunday-images-with-quotes.jpg

It’s the beginning of the week, but it is the end of the weekend. Is it just me or does the weekend always go by faster than the rest of the week?

Last week I am just going to call it like it was….I was LAZY!! I think I had a name everyday last week, but yesterday. I have been really unmotivated and just tried. I have no idea what has gotten into me at all. This week I want to change that.

Every week I make a list of things I need to either deep clean or things I clean monthly. My list is usually done by friend, this week I think I did like 3 things on it. I need to work on my motivation on getting things done. This week I want to finish that list and I want to paint my kitchen. I am also behind in how many miles I do a day walking because I have been lazy.

Something that has been really getting to me is my husband being on a different schedule then I am. When he first went to night shift it was suppose to be for a couple of months, we are 4 months in. Then, 2 weeks ago he was told he was going back to 1st shift this week…guess what…he got lied to again. I have been trying to be patient with it, but it is really getting to me. With us being a different schedules it is really hurting our marriage because we hardly get anytime together. I am praying he changes back soon.

This week, I AM getting back my motivation….I am going to be determined to get things done. I am also going to work on going to bed earlier. I also need to work on getting my daily list done and also my deep cleaning weekly list. I can do it…that is what I keep telling myself.

I hope everyone had a very blessed weekend with their family and I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

10 Random Facts About Me

Hey Y’ALL

I hope everyone is having a great weekend with their family. We have a busy weekend ahead of us. We have a lot of yard work to do and I want to work on the basement. We also have ball practice and right after we have to drive our son up to my parents house, which is a hour away for him to stay the night.

Today I wanted for my readers to get to know me better, with 10 random facts about me that even some of my friends don’t know and you would really have to know me real well to actually know.

1. I don’t wear matching socks.

The only time that you will find me in matching socks is if I bought a new pack of socks, but you can buy a pack of socks that don’t match. I started this years and years ago. I feel that life is to short to match socks.

2. I walk on my tip toes with no shoes on and I will stand on my tip toes with shoes on.

I have always done this since I could walk, my mom has told me. I don’t even notice it actually because I have done it all of my life. I did try to break myself one time because the muscles in my feet over lap randomly and it hurts. I gave up on breaking myself because I don’t even know I am doing it.

3. I have a Bunny that lives in the house, her name is Harley.

Yes, you read that right. I have a bunny that lives in my house, I use to have 2, but Honey died. Harley is a dwarf rabbit and she is fully house trained. She uses a certain spot in her cage for the bathroom. She will run around the house. She plays with our lil chihuahua, but our rat terrier is scared of her, and our blue heeler don’t even acknowledge her. I have a rabbit because growing up we use to raise them and on Easter my step dad killed my bunny and cooked it before I was home from church. I seen him kill it because he couldn’t catch it and every since then, I don’t eat rabbits and I tell my son when he goes hunting with my husband he isn’t allowed to kill a rabbit. I am waiting on that one day when he brings home a dead rabbit.

4. I have a phobia of mice and rats.

Funny thing is I use to have a mouse as a pet for years and I wasn’t afraid of it, but let me see one out dead or alive and I go into full on panic attack and screaming. I can’t deal with it. We live in a subdivision that has  fields next to it and we randomly get them in the house, especially in the basement and I will refuse to do laundry if I see one in the basement till it is caught. I have had friends that I have played pranks on and they have used my phobia to get me back.

5. I am the 4th out of 6 kids in my family.

I know huge family. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. My oldest sister got killed in a car accident when I was 11. I am very close to my other sister and I am close to only one of my brothers.

6. I love to fish, but I refuse to touch the fish unless I have a thick rag.

Since I was a teenager I have been like this. I use to be worse and not bite my own hook. I use to wear old shirts fishing because my parents use to make me remove my own fish and I use to use my shirt. I have taken my son fishing alone and I would take a glove. Now my wonderful husband takes my fish off for me.

7. I have a fear of drowning.

I have always had this fear and I couldn’t swim till I was like 25 and I am still not that great of a swimmer. I remember when my husband said we were going kayaking for the first time (we were dating then), I was scared to death and I told him. Now we own like 5 kayaks and I love being out on the water, but I am still trying to overcome my fear. I still get nervous. I think the only time I wasn’t nervous is last year when I have my nephew that was 1 at the time on the kayak with me. It was hits first time going and us taking all the kids and his mother and I just switched him from kayak to kayak all day. We always do an 8 mile trip when kayaking.

8. I bite my nails.

Yes, I am one of those people. I have gotten way better and hardly do it anymore. I use to get my nails done every 2 weeks to avoid me biting my nails, but I hate that it makes my nails so then.

9. Biggest pet peeve: Someone eating and scraping their teeth on the silverware.

I would rather hear fingernails across a black board instead of someone scraping their teeth on silverware when they are eating. I cannot stand it.

10. Favorite TV show Andy Griffith

I use to hate this show when I was growing up, but my husband got me addicted to it. During the weekdays this is what we watch before going to sleep. We got our nephew which is now 2 addicted to it. He will ask if Andy is on in the mornings and he knows once we pick my son up for school Andy is going to be on.

This was harder than I though coming up with random facts about me. I hope y’all have enjoyed learning a lil more about me.

*~* Goal Update*~*

Hey Y’ALL!!

It’s Thursday…we are almost done with this week! This week has went by quickly for me. Like yesterday when I made my post about changes, I first put it was Tuesday…ha ha ha, I had to go back and change it. I was like dang it is already Wednesday.

I wanted to give y’all a mid month goal update. If y’all read my,~* Life…It just happens*~, y’all would of seen the goals I set for myself this month. I must say some that are extremely important I am failing on and others I am succeeding in…I believe.

~Goal Update~

  • Restoring my relationship with GOD: I feel like I am failing at this. I have been praying everyday and I have been trying to fit in my daily devotion book, a couple nights a week. I want to make time for it every day. Also, I haven’t made it to church this month. This past Sunday where we were super busy this weekend, I totally forgot to set my alarm and I slept till 11:30 am….I NEVER sleep that late. On Wednesday nights I can’t go because, 1. My husbands truck is broken so he is driving my car to work and 2. He is still working nights. He is at work more than he is here so half the day I am left with no car. I need to work harder on this goal because this is the most important goal I have this month.
  • My Marriage: I don’t have a bad marriage, but it needs to be worked on. We did go to Nashville last Friday and we stayed in Nashville for the night. Saturday was going great and then when we got into town…bam he had to go fix something at work. I was MAD!! We had plans and he it didn’t need to be fixed until Monday morning. The guy that is over the place (not the owner), only wants to do things on his time and I was over it, I lost it. My husband knew I was mad because we had family plans. Friday he took vacation for us to go have time together and I feel that he should of told the guy not to wait till last minute to tell him when something breaks (because it broke the day before) and that it could wait. After he finally got home we worked it out and realized that he should of told him that it could wait.
  • Lose 10 pounds: I know 10 pounds sounds like a lot to lose in a month, I realize that now, but at the beginning of the month it didn’t seem that way. I am happy to say though I am down 5 pounds. I am trying to get our basement in order or office for me to start using my treadmill again. I have been drinking mostly lemon water. I will have a Diet Mt. Dew a couple times a week and some juice a couple times a week, but other than that just water. I feel like my taste buds have changed since drinking more water. My husband brought me home a juice this morning and I as I was drinking it, I realized I just wanted my water.
  • No Buying Makeup: Honestly I thought this goal would be the hardest one to follow, but shocker it has been the easiest to follow. I avoid the makeup in stores period. When I was in Nashville, I did almost break. The makeup store in the mall was going out of business…Thank God it wasn’t a huge sale. Plus, I live in a small town, so when I go to a bigger city, I always stop at Ulta. That was hard not to go in Ulta….super hard.
  • Organizing: I am Spring Cleaning and organizing every room in my house and hopefully by the end of the month my whole house will be organized, minus the basement. We have a full size basement and it became a catch all room, there are so many boxes down there to go through, I am dreading it. I am slowly working on other things in the basement. I think I am going to buy a couple of tubs weekly and start getting rid of the boxes in the basement.
  • Letting Go of People that Do Harm: I think I am doing okay on this one. The people I feel like are doing harm to me or my family I have said something, minus to a couple of them and I think my husband is going to take care of that. When I say harm I am not meaning physical, I am also meaning emotionally, not treating you like family, using us…etc. I decided that we need to talk to a lot of people and the ones I have said something to, have changed their ways. I feel so much better. I feel that if people wants to be in your life then they should also make an effort to be in your life also, not just expect us to do all the work. That is not how it works. Something I cannot stand is my son being treated differently than other children in the family and a lot of people do that. He is at that age now where he notices and he says something to me. I don’t play around when it comes to my child.

I feel that I am doing okay with my goals, minus with goal #1, which is my relationship with God. What are some of y’alls goals for the month of April?

Please don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog. I will have several changes coming this week to my blog.

Thanks for reading,

Dana

~*Blog Changes*~

Hey Y’All

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday.  I am working on my cleaning list for this week, which thankfully I am almost done with it. I am excited because my sister is bringing over her BIG Boxer tonight and I get to doggie sit for her. I am nervous a lil because my dogs inside are so much smaller, minus our Blue Heeler (which may be pregnant), but he knows her because my sister has watched her before. I have to hide my rabbit from him because he has killed rabbits before and mine lives in the house. Harley runs around, she is house trained (most people don’t know rabbits can be trained). I will end up putting her cage in my bedroom. This morning she beat up my dog Gunner….for some odd reason she just hates him, but loves our smaller dog Heaven (but she was raised with Heaven).

Anyways, I wanted to let everyone know that there will be changes coming to my blog this week. I have decided not to only focus my blog just on beauty. I will be adding just everyday things, mainly lifestyle to it (I will still post about makeup and review products for y’all). As I thought about it my blog is called Southern Beauty and there is beauty in everything around us, not just in makeup….It is on everyday life, every minute, and every second of the day. I will also be looking at changing my theme also. Maybe just a whole site change in general. The name Southern Beauty will stay the same though.

Thanks everyone for following my blog, liking my post, and reading my post every time I post.

Thanks,

Dana
