*~May 17th PCOS Advocacy Day~*

Hey Y’ALL

Today I want to be a little bit more serious on my blog and talk about something that I deal with every single day and many others deal with it, but they deal with it quietly. I am hear to let y’all know y’all aren’t alone.

~My Story~

I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. I have always had cyst problems, the pain, no period, etc. I felt like something was wrong with me because my pain was getting worse and my mood….well I had mood swings, I felt like I couldn’t handle. I was also putting on weight that I couldn’t lose no matter how hard I tried. Before the doctor told me about PCOS, I had no idea what it was. I have never heard of it before and honestly it crushed me. I felt like my womanhood was ripped away. Even though my husband and I are happy not having anymore kids, it crushed me knowing if I wanted to get pregnant. It would be harder to get pregnant and most women with PCOS miscarry and I know me I am not strong enough to deal with something like that. Not only that I had to change my diet because of being insulin resistant. That scared me like no other. I don’t want to become diabetic. Heck, honestly I would never be able to poke my own finger or give myself a shot. I have a fear of needles (I go into a panic attack at times, knowing I am going to have to get poked with a needle). I was glad that there was ways to make my pain stop though. Go back on birth control and I started on Metformin. I was doing great with my diet and taking my meds and then when I was up for my blood work again, my fasting insulin number went up. I lost weight and everything and still it wasn’t good enough. Today, I don’t take Metformin anymore. After I had my stomach surgery in August, I just stopped taking it, which I probably need to start again and I need to go back to the GYN.

~What is PCOS~

PCOS is polycystic ovary syndrome, which is a hormone imbalance that affects 1 in 10 women, yes very shocking. There are women out there they don’t know they have it and some that do know, keep quiet about it.

~About PCOS~

  • Causes hair growth in places were women shouldn’t being having excess hair growth at.
  • Leading cause for infertility in women.
  • 1 in 10 women are living with PCOS.
  • PCOS is Genetic and even man can carry the gene for it.
  • It can be treated, but not cured.
  • PCOS causes hair loss.
  • Mood swings out of the blue, for not reason at all.
  • Causes tiredness
  • Irregular periods, sometimes months and months without one and then bam it hits and you are doubled over in pain.
  • Very painful
  • Causes other health problems: High Cholesterol, Insulin Resistance, Obesity, infertility, insomnia,  anxiety, depression, etc

I could go on and on about PCOS and how it affects women. Remember this next time: when you ask a woman about when she is going to have a baby, she could be battling with PCOS, before you call someone fat or think they are lazy, she could be battling with PCOS, before you get upset with someone that is moody, remember she could be battling with PCOS. Before you make fun of the woman with a mustache, remember she could be battling with PCOS. PCOS is an illness that cannot be cured. It needs more awareness brought to it.

To the women out there that is battling with PCOS….PLEASE remember…YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

~*~Goal Update~*~

Hey Y’all

Can y’all believe we are already half way through this month. I can’t!!! It is flying by for me. This whole year is flying by like crazy.

Because it is 1/2 way through this month I wanted to give y’all a goal update on how I am doing with this months goals.

~Monthly Goals~

1. 100 Followers on my blog!

I am at 77 followers right now on my blog (this is not counting email followers). I am getting there. I have a couple of more weeks left to get to my 100. Please share my blog with your family and friends. It would be greatly appreciated.

2. Daily Devotion Every Night!

I am happy to say that I have done my daily devotion every single night. I have even started a daily devotion journal to write down the things that stand out to me. I use an app and I have been focusing on my parenting and my marriage when it comes to daily devotion. I am very proud of myself. I have already finished 2 plans and I just started new daily devotion plans a couple of days ago.

3. Walk 125 Miles this Month

This one I haven’t done so good on. I am close to the 1/2 point, but I am not quiet there. There has been some days where I have just been lazy. When I have those lazy days, I try to make it up the next day, but it doesn’t always happen like that. I am VERY determine to achieve this goal this month!

4. Work on Myself

I am doing great with this goal also. I have been taking time to myself every week. I take a nice hot bath and just listen to music and relax. I also take some time to myself every night to relax and clear my mind from that day. I wish I could lose weight though. I struggle with losing weight. If y’all have any suggestions please let me know.

5. No Sodas

This is by far the hardest. We went to the movies the other day and I was like, I want a Dr. Pepper, I almost broke, but I got my a bottle of water instead. I have done this before years ago, plus when I had stomach surgery back in August I had to go without soda, which was ease then because it was for a medical reason. I struggle with this daily, I crave either a Dr. Pepper or a Diet Mt. Dew, it is just crazy.

I am still working daily on all of my goals. I am doing great with some and not so great with others. I am going to continue busting my butt on getting my 125 miles this month.

How are y’all coming along with y’alls goals? What goals are y’all struggling on this month?

Please don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog. Please share my blog with family, friends, and on y’alls social media to help me get to my 100 followers this month.

*~*Softball Life*~*

Hey Y’ALL!!

Happy Saturday!! The weather is nice here (minus it being hot) and we have lots of plans today. I hope everyone is going to be out enjoying this nice weather. We have a busy day with our niece’s softball game, our softball practice, and then back to the strip. It rain last weekend so the antique cars couldn’t make it out, so they are having it again this week. I think we are going to ride the strip a lil bit, but take chairs this time to sit and watch mostly.

Last night we had our “First” game of the season. We lost, we got our butt kicked!! Yep, our team needs work. We have a pretty great team, but they are going to have to want to be a TEAM. Some of them have to learn there are no “I” in team. Also, we have a player we have to talk to about being nice to our other team members. Kids can be so mean these days. I think we are going to practice today and then Tuesday. Our next game is next Friday….wish us luck.

Today, we are going out to another ball field to help my brother. He is our assistant coach where we play at, but his girls play somewhere else and he coaches their team. My husband helps him out and of course, I get to hang with my 2 year old nephew. Plus, a friend runs ball out there and we told him we would help him anyway we can when he needs it.

CT272DH-2

I feel like now days we live and breathe softball. My husband wanted to coach and I said okay, if that is what you want to do go for it and then his mom sponsored us. I didn’t realize how much I would be involved in it. I am the one that keeps everything organized, contact parents about games and practices, plus standing in the dug out with them. I am also in charge of the batter line up making sure we have the correct batter going up when it is their turn. I remember telling my husband last year that, if he wanted Zander our son to play softball it was his thing. I did karate with him, I did my time, lol….but I guess it didn’t stick this year. I love being able to support my husband in wanting to coach and supporting my son playing sports.  Not a lot of parents get to do that. Plus, I use to be a preschool teacher and I love working with kids (that is why my house is always full of kids), it gives me a chance to do something I love…minus they are older kids.

*Nightly Routine…Winding Down*

Hey Y’ALL

I hope everyone’s Monday was great, but I do understand it is Monday. I know I usually post earlier in the day, but my day was busy, busy, busy.

While I am winding down for the night, I thought my nightly routine would be a great post for today.

Right now my husband is on night shift (I am so ready for him to be back on his normal schedule), so during the week my night time routine is different than my weekend nightly routine, but not by much.

1. Shower

I am one of these people that have to have a shower at night, if not I feel dirty especially waking up in the morning. I also do my skincare routine after I get out of the shower.

2. Daily Devotion

Right now I am using an app on my phone and also a 3-minute devotions for women. I love it because it is a journal, so I can write down my thoughts after reading. This is my quiet time, no one is around (but my fur babies), and I can focus more on what I am reading. I take it in way better and it makes my soul feel so much better,

3. My Daily Planner

Last month one of my goals was to get more organized and one of the steps I took was getting myself a planner. I decided to get the Happy Planner and I love it. I also bought daily sheets for it, were every day I have something to check off to make sure I done everything for the day. What I love about these sheets is, it has a grateful for part and I always list what I am grateful for that day. I make sure I have everything planned out for the next day, were I know exactly what I need to do when I wake up.

4. Catching up on my Youtube Videos

This is the one thing that is different during the week vs. the weekend. I use to watch my youtube videos in pick up line waiting on school to get out, but I decided I would start watching them as I was doing my planner and just winding down for the day.

As you can tell my nightly routine is short and sweet. I just want to be relaxed before trying to go to sleep because I do have insomnia. I am finding the more relaxed I am the better I sleep and preparing myself for the next day, I am WAY less stressed.

What are y’alls nightly routine?

Please don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog. I want to get to 100 followers by the end of the month and I don’t have that many to go.

Motivation Lost….If Found Please Return!

Hey Y’ALL

Happy Monday…..for me not really. I am dragging this morning. It is only 10:00 a.m here on this Monday morning and I am already ready for a nap. My weekend was busy, busy, busy and now it is Monday. I have had no time to relax I feel like.

I will start with my Saturday. I feel like once my feet hit the floor Saturday, it was go, go, go. We had our first ball practice, which was great, but everything before and after ball practice was busy. I had my sisters boxer this weekend, that meant 4 dogs in the house and we had to keep my sisters boxer and our blue heeler separate because the boxer attacked our blue heeler. It was an entertaining time. Our small dogs were afraid, but they all survived. Before ball practice we had to go pick up a pitcher’s mask for our team and had to make a water cooler of Gatorade. After ball practice, my son wanted to go stay the night with my mom and step dad and we had to drive a hour to go drop him off. I wished my parents lived closer.

Sunday….my plan was to go to church, but I didn’t. My husband bought a new alarm clock and he said he was setting the new alarm to see if it would wake him, but guess what….the alarm did not go off. Yep, he didn’t turn it on after setting it. I woke up after 10, I guess I needed the rest. After my sister picked up her dog, we had to drive all the way back to go pick up our son, then we drove a hour in the other direction to go to the batting cage. We didn’t get home till late and I had to wake up and take our son to school this morning.

So, with my busy weekend and then no sleep last night, my motivation is now gone. I have no clue where it went, all I know is I need it back. I have to get ready to go into town with my husband and nephew because I have a lot to do in town. I have to grocery shop and run to the dollar tree to get more items to organize the house. So…if yo see where my motivation went please return it to me.

~* Life…It just happens*~

Hey Y’all

Oh, I have how I have missed being on my blog and writing. Did I plan to vanish for over a week….no, but I needed it, oh how I needed it. I didn’t need a break from writing on my blog at all, I love it actually, gives me something to look forward to, but I needed a break from life in general. As you can tell by the title this isn’t no beauty blog. It is just about life in general.

You know how you just have had a rough time back to back and you feel like you never catch a break, that was me. February was spent in and out of the hospital with my son and then I ended up with the flu and March was just crazy. What makes it worse is that I have insomnia, so when I go without sleep most nights, my emotions start to show and I am just lost at that point.

I would have to say March started off on a good note, but certainly did not end that way at all. It ended with drama, more drama, and again more drama. I also turned 32 at the end of March, I actually had a great birthday. After my birthday, I started doing some thinking and I want to change a lot in my life…one goal at a time

April Goals

  • Restoring my relationship with GOD: So much has went on this year and I need to start focusing on God more. I have been failing to do so this year. I need to start getting back into church every Sunday.
  • My Marriage: I feel like I need to work on my marriage a lot this month. Not that it is bad because it isn’t. I just feel that with my husband on nights and having a different schedule than I do, there is no time spent family wise. Maybe schedule a Saturday nigh movie night all this month….that sounds good.
  • Lose 10 pounds this month: I want to eat healthy and start exercising more. I use to do it all the time, now it is time to go back and do it again.
  • No buying makeup: Yep, you read it right, I am not going to buy no new makeup this month. Last month I hit several big sales and bought a lot…I am just going to review the products I have on hand for y’all this month.
  • Organizing: I need to organize my house and declutter big time. I have already remodeled the living room area and the kitchen is next. I have been working on decluttering it were I can paint it by the end of the month.
  • Letting go of people that do harm: After March, I have came to the realization, I need to let go of those people who are toxic to me. Those who yo think has got your back, but in the end all they do is stab you in the back. I need to focus on myself and my family. I feel that if my family and I are important enough for people they will come around or call. I am so done with drama and helping those people who just take advantage of my kindness.

I am hitting April with full force y’all. I should be back on track tomorrow with a beauty blog for y’all.

Until then, thanks for reading,

Dana

Life Update

Hey Y’all!!!

I just wanted to stop in and let y’all know I haven’t vanished once again from my blog. If you remember in one of my post last week, I let y’all know my son had the flu, well on top of the flu he got pneumonia. He just kept on getting worse, so he has been hospitalized in Vanderbilt since Thursday and as of right now we have no idea when he is going home. One minute they say he is going home and then they do an ultrasound and X-ray and see it isn’t getting better, but worse and we stay. Currently I am waiting on doctors to make their round to see the plan for treatment today.

On a good note, I do have new products coming in the mail next week and I have new products at home to review for y’all. So once I am back home I am going to have lots of products to review and give my opinion one. This does put my youtube channel on hold for now. I am still planning on starting my youtube channel just right now it is going to be pushed back a couple of weeks. I will try to keep y’all updated on everything to let you know when we are back home 🙂

Life

Monday Already 😭

Hey y’all!! 😊

Sorry I haven’t posted since Friday, but my weekend was nonstop.

Saturday I done the A21 freedom walk with some friends! If you don’t know what that is, it is a walk to end slavery around the world! I had to be up super early for that because we had to travel a hour and a half. I live in a small town and they hardly have anything like that here where I live. Heck…we hardly have anything here in this town.

Anyways, after I got back, I had to get ready for my step sons bday party. We were having it at a park so we had to get everything loaded and set up. Which on Saturday I used that Milani foundation again and it wore all day! I was impressed!!

Sunday we woke up early went to church and then we had to drive over 2 hours to take my step son home! I have been on the go. That is why I didn’t have time to post this weekend!

This week I will try to get back on track posting everyday!
