I hope everyone is doing well on this Tuesday.
Today I want to talk about the importance of protecting your skin from the sun and what products I use on my face to protect me from the sun.
I use to be one of these that would “try” to get a tan, I say try because I am white, I barely even get a tan at all even when I lived in Florida and I went to the beach and when I didn’t go to the beach, I went to the tanning bed. The last time I went to a tanning bed was 2 years ago because of my wedding. I had a “farmers” tan as we call it here in the south. It bugged me and I wanted it gone before my wedding. Now that I am writing this blog, I still have minutes at that tanning salon that I will never use. Growing up I knew my mom had skin cancer, but I never really understood what that was till I was older. Then I was young and dumb and didn’t care about my skin. Now that I am older, I understand the consequences of the sun and the damage it can do to me. Yes, I get made fun of all during the summer…I have been called a cracker, ghost, casper, I could go on and on, but I would rather be made fun of than risk my health.
With softball season upon us and time to be out on the water kayaking, it was very important to me to find products that would protect my face from the sun…yes, I protect all my other body also, but I hate putting regular sunscreen on my face. I have found 2 great products that I am going to use this spring and summer. I have one that is affordable and I have one that is high-end.
~AVON MagiX Face Perfector~
This was one of the first products I reviewed on my blog. Someone gave me a sample of it and I ended up months later buying the full size because it was on sale. I didn’t buy it at the time because of the SPF, I bought it because it is a good face primer. It is like cream to powder finish and leaves your skin so soft. I wear this under my makeup almost daily. This does have a SPF of 20 and it is also oil free, which makes me love it even more. You can also wear this alone on no makeup days. It is original $12, but right now on the Avon website you can get it for $8.99 or if you know someone who sales avon then maybe you can get a sample.
~IT Cosmetics Anti-Aging Armour~
Yes, this is pricey for just 1 fl oz, but this is so good. This was one of these that Youtube made me buy it products. I seen so many people talking to highly of this product and all the reviews were so great. This is also recommended daily use by the skin cancer foundation. I have seen people have no foundation days with this because it evens out your skin tone so much. The SPF in it is 50+, how great is that!! It is translucent, even though it doesn’t look like it. Yes, it is $38 for 1 fl oz, but you really only use a pea size all over your face. I am going to mostly be using this when I am out on the water boating or kayaking and when I am at the ball field.
What sunscreen products do y’all use on the face? What would y’all recommend? I did end up getting a sample in my Allure box last month of a sunscreen, but I haven’t tested it out and I don’t even remember the name of it.
